British Canoeing Coach Education

British Canoeing coach qualification courses, training and assessments - a dynamic coaching pathway which benefits both recreational and competition coaches and their students, providing them with structure and support as they progress.

The Courses

British Canoeing have had a revamp of their Coach Awards to meet the needs of today's coaches and to provide them with better recognition within the UK sports industry.

The Paddlesport Instructor (old Level 1) is aimed at those wanting to run taster sessions and short journeys in very sheltered environments.

To achieve a Coach Award, coaches complete two components of face-to-face training (‘Core Coach Training’ and ‘Discipline Specific Training’) and will need to engage in active, independent learning to develop their coaching out in the field. This is concluded by a 1-day discipline specific assessment.

The British Canoeing Coach Award aims to offer specific pathways across all paddlesport disciplines, superseding former Level 2, Moderate/Advanced Water Endorsements (MWE/AWE) and Discipline Support Modules.

1 day courses designed to assess paddlers with the relevant discipline specific BC Coach Award Training who have completed their consolidation period.
