Roope is from Finland and lives in Helsinki. He has extensively ventured throughout Finland, Sweden and Norway paddling and mountaineering for 25yrs.

Leo first worked with Roope in 2004/5 at Plas y Brenin, where Roope kicked his ass on Colin McRae PlayStation one Xmas (as Tommi Mäkinen, obviously). He did so very seriously and stoney faced, though inside he was dancing smugly.

Roope is fluent in English, Swedish and Finnish and speaks excellent Spanish and Norwegian. He is an expert in Arctic fauna and flora and is very knowledgable of the Sámi people and their culture.

For the last 15 years he has led sea kayaking, open canoe and trekking expeditions to Iceland, Albania, Himalaya, Georgia, Turkey, Romania, British Columbia, Ireland, Scotland and annually to the Ammassalik/ Kulusuk region of S.E Greenland.

Roope also runs his own guiding and expedition company.
